Hello. If you read this blog regularly or follow me on twitter you may have noticed that I haven't tweeted or blogged for about a month and I've also recently stopped writing for Hello Giggles. I'm afraid I'm not ready to come back quite yet but I wanted to briefly explain where I've been and why.
I've previously hinted on this blog that the reason I do so much craft is because I haven't been very well for a couple of years following an operation. At the end of May I had another operation that I am seriously hoping is going to make me much better. It was a horrible operation and I've been having a really tough time since. I'm used to pain but this has really been very hard but I'm still extremely hopeful it's going to work and I'm determined to get through it.
I've become a bit of a pro on convalescing and have been doing lots of things to help myself get through it. Before the operation I bought four new pairs of pyjamas so I am the best dressed invalid in the world! While we were in hospital me and my mum decorated the hospital room with 10 sets of fairy lights and won the award for nicest room. I've watched two whole series of thirtysomething which I LOVE and two series of The Mary Tyler Moore Show which I also love. I've been doing lots of drawing (see the picture of me in my dashing pyjamas above) and cross stitching and knitting which always helps. I'm also making a scrapbook with all my hospital bands, Polaroids of the journey and cards I have received.
So I'm getting through it, but it is hard. I'm still not really ready to talk about it properly and I haven't been able to see anyone apart from my family yet so I have a long way to go until I can start doing this blog properly again. But I promise I will be back, and I hope that when I return you will all start reading what I have to share again. My blog has been the thing that has got me through the past few years, and I can't wait to make it even better when I get back.
In the mean time you can read some of my recipes here.
My craft D.I.Y.s here.
All about my knitting here.
And my Hello Giggles pieces here.
Lots of Love Scarlett.

ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear this. You are such a generous-spirited person and I enjoy reading about all your projects. Hope you will soon be feeling a lot better.
ReplyDeleteAw, bless you! I am a new convert to your blog and intended to become more crafty with a move from workaholic Japan back to the UK, but instead became self employed (that worked out well eh) So you'll have to be crafty and bakey enough for me too, ok!? Get well soon, love xxx

Oh poor you, what a rotten time of it you've been having. Days in hospital do pass so slowly, I know. Let's hope you're feeling much better soon.
ReplyDeleteThe fairy lights sound wonderful, and it's great that you have internet access, at least. I'd wondered why you'd stopped writing your lovely blog.
Hopefully all will be well in as short a time as possible.
Much love,
Jill Mansell xxx
I love them there PJs in your drawing! Glad to hear that you are feeling well enough to start writing again and, although you've still got a way to go, getting better is definitely the direction you want to be heading in. I love your blog so am very glad that you'll be back on it in no time. Keep getting better and keep on knitting (I'll have to stick to my crocheting, I can't do the whole knitting thing very well). All the very best and lovely to hear how you are getting on.

ReplyDelete'Thirtysomething' is a blast from the past and has reminded me of 'My So-called Life' starring Clare Danes, have you seen that?

ReplyDeleteHi Scarlett,
ReplyDeleteI just discovered your blog and am reading every post - sign of a great blog! I'm sorry to hear you've been unwell - hospital is the dullest thing in the world. The fairy lights are a wonderful idea though! I've been in hospital a lot these past few years and on one of my stays a friend brought lots of home made pom poms to decorate the room - it was ace! Next time, I will definitely be investing in fairy lights though :)
From your recent post it sounds like you are on the mend, I'm so glad to hear this! I hope things are improving day by day and I'm looking forward to reading more of your posts. Love (a new and hooked follower!), Mairead xxx
